MCS - S.A.F.E. Study

S.A.F.E. Study

  • The S.A.F.E. Study is an abbreviation for:  S.F.T. Alternative for Enoxaparin.

  • The S.A.F.E. Study is the first (and only known study to MCS), which compares a device, head to head with enoxaparin, for the full recommended prophylaxis period.

  • The S.A.F.E. Study endpoints were defined as VTE and bleeding complications.

  • The S.A.F.E. Study was conducted on more than 400 patients who underwent THA surgery and who completed full recommended ten-day prophylaxis treatment both in-hospital and post discharge.

  • Based upon these outstanding study results, it is clear that with the use of a light, portable, and easy-to-use device that generates a unique hemodynamic profile, such as the ActiveCare+S.F.T., THA patients can be mobilized rapidly with similar protection against thromboembolism as with the use of enoxaparin and with a lower incidence in major bleeding.

  • The S.A.F.E. Study is published in: JBJS, March 2010; 92 (3): 527-535.
